Australia’s most iconic beach and, attached, an evenly iconic pool. Yes, we’re talking about the world renowned Bondi Beach. When walking on this incredibly large beach, visitors can’t help but feel like they have been there before. Probably due to the ton of movies and series that have been recorded here over the past decade. While it might be big, touristy and loud at times, Bondi Beach is one stop that cannot be missed whilst in Sydney. Aside from a visit to the area, make sure to tick off the following activities whilst in the area:
1. Spend a day at the beach
Before we dive into other activities, Bondi Beach does lend itself perfectly for a day on the beach. Grab yourself some serious sunscreen, let’s say SPF 50 at least if you do not want to end up completely burned, and enjoy the extremely strong Australian sun rays whilst watching the surfers making their way to the waves
For those who become extremely restless after an hour of beach time, let’s continue:
2. Graffiti walk along the boulevard
Directly attached to the beach is Bondi’s famous graffiti wall. There is quite some artwork to admire and, if lucky, even some talented street artists at work. You’ll know when you’re at the end of the boulevard when you reach the outdoor gym at the northern end of the beach. Which is where most of the Bondi Beach body’s are made, an attraction on its own.

3. Grab an ice cream at Anita’s
Cool down from the Australian heat by grabbing an ice cream at Anita’s; la mamma del gelato. Try their unique flavor combinations – which are 100% made of natural ingredients- but above all, exceptionally good. The ice assortment consists out of cream, sorbet, vegan and yogurt, so there is something for everyone’s taste.
Price for ice cream at Anita’s starts at 5.50 AUD.

4. Bondi Icebergs Pool
And then… a visit to the not to be missed, Bondi Icebergs itself. This beauty of a pool draws in quite the crowd, but not as many tourists as one might think. The pool doesn’t feature any sun beds or relaxation area’s what so ever. Which is probably done to keep the pool suitable for the dozens of swimmers that do their laps there on a daily basis. Which is a good thing, so you will have to do all of your chilling back on the beach or in the Bondi Icebergs club/restaurant. Where you can have dinner/lunch or drinks with a phenomenal view.
The entrance to the pool is AUD 6.50 and allows you access to the sauna area as well.

5. Bondi to Coogee walk
Not in the mood to take a dip? Move along towards the end of Bondi Icebergs, where you’ll find the start of the Bondi to Coogee walk. An incredible coastal walk along several beaches and Sydney suburbs. The walk itself will take you up to an hour, depending on how fast you walk and the number of photo- or swim stops. Make sure to do the walk at least once during sunset or sunrise.
Note: during sunset, it tends to get quite crowded, with tourists as well as with joggers. But then again, sunset means waking up at five.. If you’re not a morning person that choice is easily made.
In conclusion
Wrapping up, Bondi, and its surroundings will leave you with quite the awe. It might not be as deserted and filled with lush green tones, as a lesser-known beach elsewhere would be. But, with reason, this beach stole the heart of so many visitors and is likely to steal yours too.
